someone help me, please

I have a problem. My brother managed to get around a strict NAT by setting up a static IP. He then tried the same thing on my computer. Two things happned:1 I couldn't get into the game because the Spartan catalogue error problem. 2: My internet connection was disabled. After reseting things everything was fine again. We are both on the same home network. Is it just my computer or something else?
