Can you list your computer specs and how long you wait after hitting play.
|||I've got the same problem. I can't even press the play button. If I click the play button after the installation a window opens. In this window the play button is grey and I can't click it. and also the text appears that the game has already been started.-> I installed it now 3 times and also restarted my laptop.

Did you attempt to click Options then Full Scan?
|||I can't click that button either. it's grey.If I click the error log it appears the info:
PatchLog.txt can#t be found

Find the file AOEOnline.exe
Right Click on the file and Run as Administrator
If it doesn't update or the play button or full scan become available....
Delete all files in that folder except AOEOnline.exe and follow the steps I listed again.

Just wondering - what do you mean by deleating all the files in that folder - do you mean inclusive of aoeonline.exe.cfg and patch log as well as spartan.exe
I have been trying to get this game running for about 6 weeks now - I have tried following every help i could get on all kinds of forums, including uninstalling and reinstalling, running as administrator etc, nothing works.
There was this other advice which mentioned uninstalling the game client and the game and reinstalling itin a different folder - I frankly find that impossible as niether the game client or the game gives me the option to choose the installation folder.
I run Windows 7 64bit edition
Intel Core i5 processor
4 GB Memory with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
It's a Dell Laptop-Inspirion
Seriously this has been really frustrating and I'd be lad if you can provide me any help that would let me launch this game properly.

Btw this is the message that I get on the startup screen:
"The Spartan catalog file is corrupt. Perform a full scan to resolve this problem. "
You said you ran as administrator but did you right click on the AOEOnline.exe file and run as administrator or are you running Spartan as administrator?
