What's with the trade channel?

I can't type and link items in ingame chat trade channel. It tells me to change chat settings, but there isn't any. Also, I don't see what others are writing in trade channel. Other channels work well, and as far as I know, I'm not only one with this issue. Is it some kind of bug, and is there any way to fix it?|||

OK, here are exact instructions on how to get a working trade channel.

1. Right click the "General" tab, 3 options shouldappear"New Tab," "Close Tab" and "Options." Click "New Tab."

2. Left click the new tab to go to it. Then right click on the "New Tab" this time click "Options" from the drop-down menu.

3. In the options click the check box for "Trade," then close the options window.

4. Use the new trade channel!

Yes unfortunately this method leaves the old onecluttering your trade window. :(

This code is an invalid client runtime code..

How is your computer connected to the internet?

Are you installing and running the game on your main hard drive or say a network or external hard drive/memory stick?

Never mind, fixed my little issue.

All it took was the scrubbing of both AoE:O and Games for Windows Live from
the hard drive AND registry, and reinstalling them both. That brought up a
different error but it was in turn fixed by a simple restart.

issue: granny2.dll missing and unable to use full scan option

Like the title says i'm having some issues with granny2.dll missing, when i downloaded AoEO the launcher didn't do anything so i tried starting the spartan which then gave me the message that granny2.dll wasn't there...

I've been looking around and found that the solution for this was to use the full scan option, i tried it but sadly the full scan is grey :s

has anyone found a solution for this?

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling a number of times, but no succes.

Also have i tried downloading it throught the games for windows marketplace, but i can't even download it from there since it keeps saying i have to put in a correct zipcode >.<

[Bug] Egyptian Alliance

I will try restarting the quest which is very inconvient but any ways the quest was to defeat the enemies and it says incomplete. I killed all the enemies even built a wonder and searched the map not a single enemy building stands or ppl.

So how about fixing the *** servers so I don't get kicked off?

What the hell is up with that? If you want to charge for this, make it work instead of just randomly telling me the server is suddenly down and kicking me off.

Been having the same problem as well... The game works fine in general, excellent frame rate, no lag but then, all of a sudden without any warning I get disconnected, leaving me with the message that the Age of Empires Online servers are currently unavailable.

Strange part is that I can log in again instantly.

A friend of mine suffered the same thing twice during a mission and he quit, couldn't be arsed anymore and, it's a great and fun game but playing the same missions or whatever over and over again due to random disconnects is getting rather frustrating.

I do not get logged out from Windows Live though and have no problem with anything else either (Skype, Mumble, Messenger), got a 100mbit connection and have no problem with any other online games.

Is it because I live in Europe that I keep geting randomly disconnected? More precise Umeå, Sweden.

Hope to see a solution to this cause, online games are great but disconnects ruin them, big time! =(

Windowed to Full screen

I set to windowed then tried setting back to full screen from the options and it just flickers then goes back to windowed. I tried Alt+Enter and it said "Fatal game error reported"|||Anyone know what to do?

Problem with "windowed" mode.

Perhaps I'm the only one experiencing this problem, maybe not, at any rate I'd like to see if there's a possible solution.

In the game on the "Graphics" option there's a selector for "Windowed" mode, even when checked the game runs full screen and does so no matter what. I've tried almost everything and it is just not allowing me to run it windowed. I've even gone to smaller (non-native) resolutions...nothing, nada. It's as though the "option" is there but that's all. I've even selected it, logged out and restarted the game to no avail. This is rather annoying and inconvenient. Playing on 2 monitors and not being able to tab over to the other monitor and open a browser in it while waiting for PvP or Co-Op just plain sucks. Even more considering someone ingeniously decided that while waiting for something it would be a smart idea to make our game screen useless and un-useable. No chat, not checking inventory, stores....nothing....No "Window" mode in a Microsoft game...ironic!

Really would like to hear a solution or fix for this, I figured a game pushing a $100 price point (which like a sucker, I paid) would at least be a bit less buggy and have some sort of polish and basics working correctly.

The window does operate differently when you click "windowed mode"

You can see the screen but you can also see the taskbar when you press windows when you're in windowed mode, which you cannot when you have windowed mode unchecked.

|||Windowed mode works for me. I wonder, have you set the sindow size to the same as your resolution? I think you have to set it smaller to get a window.|||

If the resolution is the same as your desktop, selecting "windowed" gives you a windowless mode that's still full-screen, but the cursor isn't locked if you're in a multi-monitor situation.

If you want normal windowed mode, the resolution needs to be lower than your desktop.

By mistake i deleted my Parthenon blueprint, so i was wandering if there was a way for me to get it back. I already try to undo the sell, but it was already too late. So, i wonder if theres a way for me to get this bluprint again. Can i talk to a GM or something? How does one talk to GM's btw?

A most odd problem

over a week ago my brother and i downloaded AOE Online. Everything was going fine until around Monday. This is when we both get a message saying we a behind a restrictuve NAT. This disallows us to play multiplayer co-op games. After a bit of frustration and research my brother finds a way around this. At least for him. The solution was set up a static IP address. However, when he tried it on my computer and i tried to launch the game I got the "spartan catalog is corrupted message" and I couldn't get any internet link whatsoever. Undoing the static IP on my computer broguht everything back to normal. We are both on the same home network so I am not undertsanding why the solution worked for him and not me.

Disconnect when i do mission for 15~20 min

I downloaded the Greek Premium pack, so have spent money on a free game already, but after downloading it and launching, I get this error trying to sign into the Game for Windows Live Marketplace. I've spent an hour searching forums, trying firewall fixes and cache eradication methods as suggested by the helpful Microsoft paragraph on the matter, but nothing is working. Very few people from hat I've seen have attempted to fix this, but speak in coding jargon I can't understand.

I can't even find a customer support email address for microsoft from any of their troubleshooting links, and am left running in circles, being told to contact my service provider (which, despite it not being a problem on their end, is Virgin media, whose idea of customer service is "wait on hold for 2 hours, then speak to a machine").

Can anyone here help, or direct me to somewhere I can get help on this? I feel cheated out of my money by an unfixable bug.

After clicking the play button on the launcher I get a box that appears with the title Spartan and in the box it says Code:800706BA. All I can do is click ok and nothing happens. Any ideas how to fix this?|||After searching through the forums I found possible solutions to this problem. Unfortunately rather than getting an error, now after clicking play from the launcher nothing happens. I have been playing the free version on one of my laptops but am due to switch and need to transfer everything.

|||All this data is stored server side. You dont need to transfer anything. All you need to play on other pc is to instal the AoE:O on it and sign in with your gamertag. You can copy the game folder if instaling and patching from scratch takes a long time for you.

The big difference in performance is for the "antialiasing". in "slow" the cam run smooth...but in "high" is impossible play well.

I know that antialiasin requires high spec...but mi problem is that i ALREADY have high specs!

Why this game become soo laggy when put the antialiasing at high? many other game run in high antialiasing and run perfect with mi specs! (games that supposedly requires more specs than aoeo)

When I click Play in the game menu, logging into Games for Windows - Live works just fine, but I get the error whe nconnecting to the authorization server.

I have tried allowing UDP and TCP ports 53, 80, 88, 443 and 3074 in both Windows Firewall and in my modem software, but it still doesn't work.

I've invited a friend to play @home. We can connect to the server and do some quests, but when we tried to begin a coop quest or a pvp match, we have an error (translated from french:

(In french in case I mistranslated something... :

I also check port forwarding on my router and it seems correct .. (done by upnp, I did not to anything)

Make sure both of you play on the same realm/server. You cannot play with or against eachother until you are on the same realm.

At the moment the servers don't support cross-realm Co-op/PvP.

Can't retrieve leaderboards

So, since today i have difficulties getting the leaderboards. One time, none of the leaderboards showed, another time the 1vs1 board showed, but it was empty and had some backend code all over it. i am having trouble downloading this game

when i hit playnow it makes me download windows live or what ever and then its gets to 23.80 and the download stops and says a "network error occured while trying to get information from the server" or something like that? and soooo what do i do i want to play this game!!!!!!!!!!

So, my kid just signed in and picked up the new quests. When he tried to visit my town, it denied him.

While I'm Okay with him not being able to visit random people's towns, he should be able to visit mine and my wife's, who are listed as adults on our xbox live gold account.

I see nothing wrong with monitoring what your young kids do. I think that as they get older you should allow a little more freedom, but it is the duty of parents to protect their children, and that includes in what they see.

As of the original post, my son could not visit *any* other cities. This was a bit more restrictivethan we intended.

I have updated his settings now so that he should be able to visit cities of Friends.

He previously didn't game online except for silly flash games. He doesn't have any xbox friends, except for my wife and I. We will decide later if we want to change this.

I have the same issue. I am unable to see or visit the city of my son, and vice versa when we're both online and Friends within Live.

Why is the download taking so long?

i go to the online launcher, and the first quarter or so goes by quickly

In-Game Purchase Not Authorized

I just downloaded this game today to try it out and was looking into the Booster Packs and Launch Pack to see what was in them and see how much they cost. The Game screwed up at the purchase screen and I was unable to see anything on screen. I tried clicking out and alt tabbing but nothing worked so I had to force quit the game. When I log back in I notice I have purchased The Special launch pack for 3200MS points... I DID NOT authorize this purchase. I called Live and they said I need to talk to the AoE online folks so I'm now posting here. I did not wish to purchase this content and would like for it to be removed from my game and my MS points refunded please.

Is it crashing right as you log into the game? or a quest?

If its into the game, do you play in windowed mode?

In all regards, try deleting the Spartan folder in My Documents - this will clear all local settings. I had a problem where I was playing fine one day, then the next it would crash a minute or so into logging into my city - resetting the settings helped.

I tried doing that and it succeeded for a day but nonetheless it failed again not even 3 hours later while in game. I dont know about you but this game is unplayable at this point.

Did a defense of crete run "hard difficulty" but i had "no quest"

After tons of tries not to get horde archers at the start, me and my friend managed to do defense of crete on hard difficulty for the first time (because our levels are 20 and 23). After the run i was so excited to see what's inside the chests but unlike my friend i was shocked that there was no quest to deliver and i spent like 2 hours for nothing, to be honest i got some crappy xp.

So, was that a bug or something? I know, this game is new and all and it needs time to improve.. but an error like that is really unforgivable..

Is there a way to contact someone and ask for help? I dont think so... because this is a "free game" ( no, they are not making tons of money out of it)... so they can't afford hiring game masters or anything..

Seriously, this game is cute and i like it, but the way you are laughing at us is making me start to hate it..

Netflix on XBOX being DC'ed if I play AOEO, please fix!

If I'm signed in on AOEO it disconnects our same netflix account on my xbox. This is really stupid that my kid can't watch a movie and I play AOEO. Make these accounts somewhatseparate. I shouldn't be penalized for logging on my xbox account and AOEO at the same time.|||

If I am not mistaken in the Xbox Tos it says you can not be logged into the same account on multiple machines. Since AOEO uses Xbox Credentials any activity on your Xbox while logged in to AOEO will result in a disconnect. This also goes for kicking you out of the game if you are logged in first.

I think this functionality is just stupid but I also don't think it will be fixed in any way.

Windys Wild Widgets for Egypt. Possible at all?

Ok, if I prefer to play Egypt, and I don't want to buy Greek as well... Is it possible to get windys wild widgets?

I find it rather strange they would market ONLY one civ in retail and then give it exclusives...

Can I for example buy greek pack, but use the download code to unlock egypt instead of greek?

Or is it really that greeks get added bonus over egypt for the same price... Which is a little unfair...

If you have Windy's Wild Widgets (from the retail pack) then it works across all civilizations.

I downloaded the Egyptian Civ during the pre-release and had the retail pack pre-ordered, Windy's Wild Widgets is available in both of my capital cities.

I persoanlly hope they don't make it availalbe to purchase, it was an exclusive for retail and should stay that way. I've seen this before, bought the Limited edition of Forza Motorsport 3 and then the LE content was availalbe for all a couple of months after release - stink.

Ok well at least that's good to know. Unfortunately my concern is I don't want to buy greek. I want to buy Egypt... But since there is no retail version of egypt in order to have egypt premium with the exclusive I need to spend $40 not $20.

I get the whole exclusive thing, but then they should have had a retail version of egypt with an exclusive as well.

That's why I was asking if it's possible to buy the greek pack (retail) and use the code provided to unlock egypt premium instead of greek premium (and still get windys) but if that's not possible I'll just have to do without Windys and just buy Egypt...

(I may one day buy greek too, but right now I can only justify the expense of a single civ and that's egypt because I like their play style better and have time invested in my egyptian city already).

Anyone else have any suggestions on this?

Trade for Delphi Limestone Quest Doesn't Give Limestone

I'm posting this for GeekGoddess1 - she still can't log in to the forum - still getting the Oops error that she's gotten for months. (I'll post a new thread for this problem.)

Geek has played the Delphi Limestone quest 3 times on 3 different days. The first time she got 2 limestone. The 2nd & 3rd times that she completed the quest, it said that she was getting 2 limestone, but she never received it. She has 2 limestone in her inventory & should have 6.

Please fix the quest reward system. & it would be nice if Geek got her 4 limestone.

OOPS Error When Attempting to Log In to the Forum

I'm posting this for GeekGoddess1 - she still can't log in to the forum. Every time she tries, she gets the Oops error:

She gets this message no matter what computer she uses - home, work, or mine. I (Rydeck1)can log in on all of these computers, so there must be something about Geek'slogin that is having the problem.This happens with both the Internet Explorer or FireFox browers. She tried clearing the browser cache & then logging in, & thentried clearing the cache & rebooting & then logging in, but it doesn't make any difference - always the "Oops something went wrong!" error.

Thinking that it was something with the gmail account (khilb97s@gmail.com GeekGoddess1), Geek tried creating a new hotmail accountw/a new gamertag (khilb97s@hotmail.com GeekGoddess2) - it failed too with the same error.

Then, thinking that maybe it was something with khilb97s, she tried two more accounts & still got the same error with those.

Unable to install the game - error 0x80070641

Hello.

When I was trying to install the game, around halfway I got the 0x80070641 error message. After trying again and again, I decided to reinstall Games for Windows Live. That proved to be difficult as well - I was unable to uninstal it via control panel (I kept getting an error message), but I finally managed it by using Revo uninstaller. The problem is, now I'm getting the same error - 0x80070641 - when installing Games for Windows Live client. Or AoE Online. Or any other Windows Live software. I'm out of ideas... can anyone help?

When I Alt-tab, the graphics want to change when clicking enter in chatbox

It's extremely weird...

I have my settings set to windowed mode, so that I can switch to and from my browser instantaneously.

Unfortunately, when I alt-tab back in, everything is fine until I click Enter in the chatbox. Then a window pops up asking "Your graphics settings have changed. Would you like to keep these changes?" and I always click no.

After a bit of testing, I figured out what it changes; it changes my option of Windowed mode to Full-Screen mode, which is a big deal because then you can't alt-tab out as fast.

This wouldn't bother me so much if it didn't ask me every time I clicked enter after alt tabbing (which is a lot. For example, if somebody links an item in Trade chat, then you google it to search the item up, then you go back to the game and whisper them, the minute you click enter next thing you know the screen blacks out for a few seconds, the message pops up asking if you want to change the graphics settings, click no and it goes black for another few seconds until you finally can whisper them.)

Can somebody figure this out for me? I can't...

Advisor Suggestion

Anyway we can request for the lesser version of advisor units to be replaced by their superior counterpart? After collecting several advisor cards it's going to be a pain going through as many as there are going through their common / blue / epic to locate the one we want. Or make it so we can "Detach" the card from the Advisor Hall once we no longer need it to vendor it?

It will not be "fixed". How is it absurd if I may ask? You're playing a FREE version of the game. It WILL have limited items available. Like any other demo, if you want access to everything in the game you must pay. I'm shocked so much is available for free. Most free to play games are VERY limited. Either allowing only 1 or 2 levels, 1 or 2 hours of play and so on... You can complete the majority if not all of the game with the free version and that is unheard, not absurd.

Seasons Pass I (possible issue with not getting account properly flagged)

I purchased the seasons pass the day the game was released. I received all my stores and whatnot that were available. The issue I am having is that I did not receive a Windys Wild Widgets. That in itself is not my issue. I saw one in a friends Capital City and I was not able to purchase from it. It said I need to purchase the Premium Greek pack. I am not sure how to check really if I do have it or not. I did purchase the Seasons Pass which I assumed gave me access to everything for the first 6 months. Also Crete only has one quest for me, the demo defend against 10 waves quest. I am not even sure if there are any other quests or if there is some trigger I need to do to get access to more quests. I did the demo quest a few times but nothing happened. I did recieve the points with Crete. I would appreciate some insight on my issues, and how I can confirm my account is flagged for what it is supposed to be flagged for.

For what its worth I have yet to receive an epic item from any chest.

Units not listening to commands; attacking everything in sight - POSSIBLE SOLUTION

I think I've found a solution to unresponsive units. Hit escape twice to bring up and close the menu. I've noticed on a couple occasions that doing so restores control to units that refuse to listen to move or attack commands.

Could someone confirm this works for them?

It's most likely related to alt+tabbing. The alt key gets stuck when you switch windows, so when you return your game the move function turns into alt+move (attack move). Just press the alt key again when you're back in the game to solve this, or use the windows key to get your system tray up.

Found that out when my priests were garrisoning inside my town center instead of empowering it since alt was stuck :S

Cannot move around capital city

Hi, basicaly the problem I have is that I cannot move farther from the point where I took the screenshot.

It just doesnt let me to, as if everything you can see on the minimap is the whole map, but for example when Im in party with a friend I can visit my own city and have a look around the whole map, its completly nonsense.

In screenshots you can't tell if the mouse is active or not...

1. Are you CLICKING your mouse button to try to move the screen? If so, Don't. Just move the mouse to theoutercorners of your window.

2. You can also use the number keys on the right side of your keyboard to move the screen left, right up and down.

Have you tried these options? I know I made the mistake at first of holding down the mouse button to slide the screen like in many games and all it does is make a "box" on your screen.

I'm having the same problem. The view point in my first two cities was away from the palace, so I couldn't see the quest giver. The third one was over him so I could start. A frind of mine is not having the same problem so I posted this here.

|||When I'm in a party with a friend, i can right click on my shield (top left of the screen) and select View Empire (or something like that), and that way i can see my city and the entire map, but I can't interact, move buildings nor talk with quest givers, but i can buy in the shops.

|||I post you the Dxdiag Later, this error comes when you create your Capital, doesnt matter you reinstall the game or the games for windows live client, i create the Capital in OTHER pc, and WORKS, but when i come back to my PC the Capital comes again bugged, the minimap pixelated and you can not move the camera from when you start.

Due to some heavy storms in the USA over the last 24 hours some servers for GFW and XBL went down. All servers should now be back up and running.

I had issues attempting to access XBL this morning around the same time of your post. I had called Xbox support as I could access GFWL and that is what they explained to me.

Defense of Crete (No Reward/Xp credit for the guest)

Hiya,

I have the full Defense of Crete, but for the last two nights, while playing as a guest in a medium level, 30 wave, co-op match, I recieved no credit for completing the quest. The first round, we won and both got credit, and we started to notice that on occasion, the guest cannot see the quest objectives, like "protect the temple, wave 21/30 etc". When that happens, apparently the guest of the mission will get to the end, and while the host can go to crete and collect the rewards, the guest has no notification of the quest being complete, and doesn't have the option to travel to Crete. All you can do is go back to your home city and then Crete, where you get nothing, not even a ? over the kings head. This is so frustrating, I've lost 56,000xp and rewards already because of this :( Also, as a suggestion, would it be possible, like in AoE 3, to have the quest map auto-reveal when you're nearly done, or done with the main objective, so you don't have to go searching the entire map for bonus treasures and or the very last villager?

|||Well the game shouldn't reveal the treasures, however it is damned annoying than when you've destroyed every single building(not counting storehouses) and kill ALL but 1 villager which is camping in a random spot somewhere on the map because it has nothing to do yet you've got to spend what is sometimes alot of time just hunting this single little villager down to finish the mission, can drive me nuts that.

Trying to download the game i get the message that i need a windows hotfix. So i go to the suggested hotfix page but there's no greek one, and the english one says it's not the correct language so doesn't work. What should i do?

List of troubles I have with launching this "drunk-developers-made game" :

"Game Initialization failed. Your Game Files may be corrupted. Try a scan" (and it downloads again "sound.bar")

"Localized Text could not be loaded. Try a scan"

And last trouble : The "Sound.bar" file sometimes download in loop ! it goes back to 0% when it reaches 100% !

Do Game Achievements "Earned" With Free Account Unlock With Premium Content?

I've been considering buying a premium civilization in the near future. So far, my Greek city is nearly at level 19, and if I had a premium civilization already, I'd have earned at least three achievements (as many of the achievements must to be completed with premium content). If I would purchase the premium Greek content, would the achievements I'd have earned be unlocked as soon as I install the content? As far as I know, it's not like I can restart my Greek city just to re-earn the achievements I missed--nor would I find that desirable, if it is possible. It doesn't sound likely, but it'd be good to know, nonetheless.

|||A friend of mine had this same problem. Make sure you haven't finished a quest and have to turn it in. That was his problem, once he found the quest giver and turned it in, he had several pop up.

I am having the same issue, I am able to log on to games for windows live market place anywhere except for the game

just went through a full battery of troubleshooting with a tech over the phone and they had to submit a ticket. This is very upsetting because I just purchased the game yesterday

If your empire is missing, make sure you're looking at the right server. It often resets itself to the first in alphabetic order. but that's probably not the server you want to play in.

If you're having connection issues with live. Try to log on to xbox.com and mess around in the settings. I found that setting up your hotmail/live through xbox.com is required for you to play with it in a game.
(Based off own experience, in all likelyhood not a solution for other people)

i have the same problem.

whenever i log onto the game, i can see my capital and accept quests etc. if i scroll the camera away (cursor to side of the screen), i end up in an empty place with some vilaggers running around but nothing else. the minimap is pixelated like in the screenshot from the OP.

fourth major bug i've had with this game in less than a day. after the initial rage i decided to take it with calm, but it's really getting annoying.

Installation Problem

Hi,

I have a problem installing AoE online; I created this live account and dowloaded the .exe file, then I ran it and the download started. After the download was finished, the play button apeared and i clicked it, but that's where the problem starts. I get to a screen,with the AoE logo and below that, ther's an other play button, but it is not possible to click it. Below that play button, there are 2 bars, and on the right there is a white box.

Hi, a have 1 PC and an Notebook, first i instaledl AOEO in my PC and start playing. Then i installed in my Note. The problem is when i try to play with my PC i cant loggin into my account, When i try with my Note i can loggin.

|||If you are using port fowarding then you may need to check to see that your IP did not renew to a different IP and thus breaking the NAT fowarding. If you are using a Xbox then test your UPNP with the Internet Explorer Internet Gateway Device test. Make sure your Router/PC has UPNP enabled before running the test.

Black Screen on Loading page

I've downloaded the game with no problems, i go to open the game fine get the man on the rock with the boat animation and from there all i get is music the spearhed cursor and a complete black screen. So far I've tried all the possible ways to fix it that I've found on forums and still have no luck!

I'm beginning to think my operating system may be the cause but i'm no good with understanding the specs needed for games....

Im using a toshiba equium a200-1vo have the latest windows service pack installed, i think my video card is an Intel(R) 965 Express chipset family which its telling me I have....

Is this video card the problem or is it just my luck that my expectation of this game working fine has come back to haunt me.

Error during coop play. "Your copy of the game is out of sync, pls try again."

I played 3 quests with a friend without any problem and at the quest "Here they come" when we play for 4-5 mins this error comes out and we return to our capital cities. We tried this quest 3 times but theabove messagekeeps coming. Any solutions?|||Sometimes the client bugs and it does this after a bunch of co-op quests. Both of you should relog and see if that helps? Also I notice when the quest log bugs out then that person will need to relog as well.

Co-Op Lagging

I can play the game fine, I don't lag or glitch. But everytime I'm in a Co-op quest, I lag like crazy. I have several people I play with and they do the same. Is anyone else having this problem? Or maybe know of a way to fix it?|||Depends on who you are connecting too. A lot of variables in this game. NAT plays a big role in this game.

Trade Channel Fix ***Please add to FAQ***

OK, here are exact instructions on how to get a working trade channel:

1. Right click the "General" tab, 3 options shouldappear"New Tab," "Close Tab" and "Options." Click "New Tab."

2. Left click the new tab to go to it. Then right click on the "New Tab" this time click "Options" from the drop-down menu.

3. In the options click the check box for "Trade," then close the options window.

4. Use the new trade channel!

Unfortunately this method leaves the old trade channel to clutter the window but I haven't figured a fix for that yet.

Access Defense of Crete Booster Pack Content

I purchased the Special Launch Bundle (or whatever it's actually called) that includes the two Premium Civs. currently available (i.e. Greeks and Egyptians) as well as the Defense of Crete Booster Pack, all of which was bundled in one purchase for 40 USD. The game has registered my purchase (in the real-cash shop it says I have bought it), and I'm granted access to the Premium Civ. content, but I cannot figure out how to get access my Defense of Crete content. I tried the free demo. mission that allows anyone to try a sample of this booster pack, but I do not have any apparent way of accessing the full version of the content. Am I just missing something here? If it matters, I'm currently a level 8 Greek Civ.|||Same here, i bought the bundle, and only have access to the demo too.

BUG: Cultivator upgrades

hi suppurt team,

im facing a bug and i dont know if others do too.

the bug is when i use the Cultivator upgrades age 2 and 3 (the upgrades from the storehouse were gathering from farms rate increased) they dont do anything at all the rate stays the same, the other upgrades works fine. lets say that the rate from farm before upgrade was 10 after i use the age 2 and 3 upgrades for farm it stays 10.

so WTF?

Gathering rate means a villager gathers faster from a given resource.

Carry capacity means a villager can carry more resources per gathering.

The farm upgrades only affect the gathering rate, so the speed to collect resources and bring them back to a drop-off point. If you look at your tech tree, the other "eco upgrades" improve carry capacity as well.

Missing Premium Item

I paid to go premium,receivedmy Special Ability: Heroic Aid.Every timeI play the quest Homer Run it bugs out and stopscountingthe kills so itdoesn'tregister that Icompletedit, AND it randomly took away my premium item Heroic Aid. Im totally deadlocked in the game and cant move on further, PLUS the item I paid for vanished..NOT ok......|||There are bugs in the Bandit Leaders quest but not completing them will not deadlock the game. They are not part of the main questline that will continue you through the game.

why cant u cod someone using mail ?

why cant you just use normal mail (cod) to send some deco, a few have tried certain items, but they can only trade in game? isnt this a silly idea, if we can trade, why cant we just use cod in the mail aswell? is this a glitch?|||Maybe this is what they are going to fix monday while they work on a real fix for the trade exploit?|||This is the first I've heard of this issue honestly. Solution: Add a large yellow star above the building behind the quest giver to grab the attention of people and make the building stand out more.

Co-op Defence of Crete

Im sure there has been other threads and posts about this same topic, butI havent seen them without going through tons ofoldthreads. The problem is whenIm in a party,only the party leader get the xp and loot.The partner doesn't get very much if anything at all. Other timesI have joined a party and both of us have gotten the same xp and loot rewards. You can tell when the other person isn't going to get anything when they have no quest details on the side of the screen. At that point its best to just quit and either try again or log and reform party and then try again.This is a big problem with Crete. I really enjoy the co-op play there and dont find it fair when my companion offers to just go along with the quest even though they will get nothing in return, or very little. I was under the impression that both ppl are to recieve the same rewards? This the same for play as Greek/Egyptian co-op and Greek/Greek co-op. Im sure its the same for Egyptian/Egyptian co-op play as well. Is there anything we can do about this or is the current way of doing things just the order of it? I have np's doing quests therealone, but that defeats the point. SaveCrete ..please!|||bump

Not able to have two computer connect at the same time

A friend came over, started playing, I went to log on and could not connect. Re installed the game and still could not connect. We both play on the same server and as soon as he logs off I can log on no problem. Any way to fix this?|||

Frequent disconnect issues

the game disconnects for me lately after i purchased premium civilization, when i start the quest and the quest takes more then 30 minutes every other time it disconnects me for no apparent reason. the internet is working fine.

|||also, the game is lagging in city mode, when i click "complete quest", takes a few seconds to display new XP points and also when buying/selling stuff.
|||if you been with games for windows live and have other retail games you will understand thats its normal to have dissconnections sadly, its not the game its the client|||

this is stupid, every other online game has some sort of reconnect feature, with this one you loose everything.

whats even more enraging is if you use some super cool power which you can use certain amount of times you loose that too, i used it like 4 times in one quest and 3 of those were disconnected, now i have only 1 left :(

|||I am also very annoyed at the way that AOEO handles progress after disconnect, it should allow you a few minutes to try and reconnect to your game.

Installation won't finish

I'm currently running the installer for AoE Online, and it just won't seem to finish installing. The install bar looks as if its at 100% installation, but it never actually completes. Its been like this for about 10 minutes. Anyone know how to make it finish?|||False alarm. Waited another 5 minutes and it finished. I may be impatient but 15 minutes after the installation looked to be about done doesn't seem right.

Trees on the Edge

Hi all, anyone else noticing that when harvesting trees on the edge of a cliff, villagers often get bugged and stop chopping them down. It seems to happen quite frequently when a tree is right on the upper edge of a ridge or cliff.

Co-op problem

I have a little problem with playing co - op with my friend. Always when we try to play together the game fails to launch saying unable to connect or stuff like that. But when I or him try to play with someone else, it works fine. I've made all those thing with opening the ports and so. Any idea what could cause that problem?

Priests convert villagers but oracle quest doesn't counter them.

Is it a bug?

I did accept quest from oracle in my city to convert 12 villagers with priests..

I convert many villagers (much more than 12) but I don't see a counter in the right side of missions during quests and when I finish my quest I watch in oracle but it's written "converted vilagers 0/12".

What can I do to fix this bug?

I restart game many times to try to fix but it's always the same...my priests convert them, but it's like it never happen.

As the countless of other threads reports, there is a bug in the current build with unit counters in the quest objectives. This bug is high on their priority list and will be fixed in the next build.

Switching to another computer

I'm playing on my laptop at the moment, if I switch to another computer I can download the game again as it's associated with my gamertag but if I log in will my progress still be there? or would I have to start again?|||Any in-game progress are saved server-side. You won't lose any progress.

Random crashes on startup.

So I click play, pick my civ, the loading screen comes up, I see my city and intro civ report for half a second then it crashes. This is the only crash I get, and it happens like 30% of the time I start the game. Once I get past that civ intro report I'm good to go, I can play as long as I want and switch maps dozens of times and it never crashes.

It's hard to say because of the apparent rarity of the crash, but it seems to have started more recently, possibly after adding some of my production buildings. One building in particular makes me wonder, it's my Scrivener's Workshop, which makes an error sound effect whenever I click on it, which sounds significantly different than my other production buildings (I have 9 total).

Screw that, I can't log in at all right now, and I logged out in Argos so it doesn't list my resources. I also was able to close the intro splash by positioning my mouse over the close button before it loaded and clicking really fast, but it still crashed a split second after.

I don't think I ever logged out in Argos before, so maybe loading different maps on startup make it worse.

I tried my Greek civ which was logged out in it's almost empty home city and even that kept crashing. After about 15 attempts (I think I ticked off everyone on my friends list) I tried rebooting my PC and got in on my first attempt. So I can only think maybe it's some sort of memory corruption issue. I usually don't reboot my PC ever, it's on 24/7, so that's not something I've had to do before to get in.

"Play button" disabled why?

Can't buy Premium Packs from Indonesia

Hi ya all. First of all, Forgive me if my post violate the rules (wrong room or category), to be honest, this is my first post at game online outside indonesia.

I can't buy premium packs because i am from Indonesia. My country is not even included in the option at the billing information. I ask my friends, they have never bought online gaming outside of our country. What should I do? I'm bored with online games at Indonesia, many gamers use cheat. Downloading Patch takes forever and starts from zero each time

Disconnected from server while almost ending a quest

I just started out on AOEo today and was in 'Mow them down' quest and had almost completed it, when i got disconnected. When i log back in, i needed to restart the quest. Tried this twice and got disconnected twice. I am about to give up now, Is there any way where, i return back to the quest, where i got disconnected and continue with the quest?|||

same thing happens to me atm, i don't feel like playing a game that just randomly throws me off the server a couple of times each hour,

i also get an error saying "Can't connect to LIVE. A DNS lookup failed to locate the LIVE servers" when i try to log back in, its very annoying.

Hector will still not fall

Have problem with the "hector must fall" quest have tryed to restart the quest some times but it doesn´t help. i killed every enemy unit & every enemy building, I cleaned the hole map still only got the counter to stand on one elite guard killed. and i killed of course Hector. But still, someone know how to fix it?

Ok, mine is working now. Not sure what the issue was, but I let windows do all of it's "important" updates and now it works. So maybe running your "Windows Updates" will help you too?

Disconnects

The game has been working fine since launch but lately whenever I start a quest, about 20 minutes later it will disconnect me and say the server is currently unavailable. Other people on my server Abydos are not experiencing this so it is only me, however my connection remains stable as the internet is still working (chrome loads etc). I participated on the beta and saw some other posts regarding this as a potential problem. Could anyone suggest any fixes for this?|||i happens to me every 5 minutes, consider yourself lucky. No solutions have been found i think its just a crappy live problem.

Loved the gameinitiallyand got Season 1 pass when things were running smooth. Now I'm seriously considering trying for a refund. Sometimes things run OK for an hour or so, but most of the time its me just been disconnected after a few minutes.

When I complained a while ago I was told it was a problem with my router. Called up provider, had them fiddle around with things. Still no change. I have had NO other connection problems with other MMO's, just this one.

I may have a solution to this. I was constantly being disconnected as well.

Turns out everytime my kids turned the XBOX on it would log in and kick me from AOE. So I turned the Auto Sign in off.

Then everytime my wife would turn her lap top on it would log in (I dunno, Windows Live messenger maybe?) and Kick me off AOE.

So I uninstalled that.

I have not been kiced since!

Disconnect really annoying... Twice in hour,I can't play normaly.

Well just trying to help. Just keep in mind all, Anything that connects to Windows Live/XBOX Livelike an XBOX, A Windows Live Phone, Apps that show your XBOX LIve Friends, MSN Messnger, you name it will kick you.

Particularly other devices being turned on. Like I posted earlier I was getting kicked left and right everytime someone would turn something on!

This problem started yesterday.

I play 10 minutes and then bamm

"The server is not available at this time"

It started yesterday right after the long dowtime period;

They DEFENELY did something during that downtime that made my connection to the game VERY unstable...

Before that Downtime, first 2 days of game.. kind 0 disconnections..

After that downtime I get 4 to 6 disconections per HOUR..

Im not being able to do quests... considering refund also, but giving time to they FIX THAT!
ITS normal, game is new, but NEED to be address ASAP.. or will be the downfall of a great online game..

ROLLBACK what was done on last downtime period...

|||I too am having the same problem. This began happening yesterday and continues today. I did not have this problem prior to yesterday.

The Camera Jumps While Scrolling, so Scrolling isn't Smooth?

When I scroll the camera ingame, it jerks and jumps a lot so the scrolling isn't smooth. How do I get rid of this? V-sync is not on, and I don't want to turn it on because it decreases frames, and it still jerks. Please help! Thanks!

I GET HALF WAY THROUGH A QUEST AND IT JUST CUTS OUT AND A MESSAGE POPS UP SAYING THE ABOVE SUBJECT?PROBABLY THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING IVE EVER ENCOUNTERED DURING PLAYING A GAME! NEEDS TO GET SORTED!|||

It comes up with that error if your internet slows ordisconnectsfor a minute.

Are you on a wireless network? If so get closer to the router.

Do you have fast internet? The game only works on internet above or around 1Mbit per second.

|||NOTHING TO DO WITH INTERNET. THERES BEEN MANY POSTS SAYING THERE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SAME SUBJECT. ITS JUST UNRELIABLE SERVERS. MY INTERNETS FINE IT NEVER LETS ME DOWN WITH ANY GAME EXCEPT THIS ONE.

When I load Age of Empires Online, I see the guy on the rock and the boat rocking, then it goes to a black screen and I can click around and hear things being clicked and I can hear the music. I can't see anything though accept the stone mouse pointer. i managed to click on the windows live login prompt and signed in. i looked all over on this site there were others with the same problem but they never seemed to have figured it out or even got any help that i could see... im runing windows vista 32 bit and have more then enuff reqerments to play the game. i tried all the stuff that the other threads talk about with the frame work and screen resoloution etc... to no avail. so i uninstalled all my drivers from cpu to video card to frame work etc and re downloaded them all again and updated windows fully all of this took over 12+ hours of downloading and installing updates (yippie). all of this did nothing that effected my problem at all still does the same thing.so i unistalled the game after all this figured maybe it installed bad maybe.. well i unistalled the game through windows live downloads menu then reinstalled the game from there. after this it did the same thing blank screen.so i unistalled it again using the windows uninstall tool, then i delted the folder the game was installed in , then i ran CCleaner to make sure its completey gone , restarted my comp ran CCleaner again , redownloaded the the installer.exe from this site this time again (did for first install to). then i got the missing granny2.dll, so then i used the full scan option in the game launcher to replace/update the files (again done this several times prior along with other things). then after all this i hit the play button and it shows the guy on the rock and the loading boat and then blam it happpens blank screen again. is there any more hoops you could recommend i go jump through before i can play? i cant find anymore to jump if anyone knows anymore that could be helpful just maybe.

I can't even start the game lol ._.|||well? whats the deal day 4 now and no response? microsoft you make billions of dollars a year from your scam like way overpriced products. yet you cant hire four people at like minimum wage to do technical support for the second biggest game title in the microsoft inventory second to only halo. im sorry thats just pathetic period.

There's support... The majority of staff are busy dealing with Emails. This game is only 1 week old so expect delays...

|||Been waiting on a response for this probably since the 17th or so. I did have 4.0 installed myself and followed that step by step and redid it 4 times to no avail. By the sounds of it they had this problem in beta as well, so doesnt seem like a fix is near.

|||If you end up finding a fix , post here. ill do the same lol. Having the exact same issue. windows 7 64bit , .net 4 completely updated with windows update. I even found the .net4 extended and got that. tried removing to 3.5 and then updating that didnt work.gfx card updated. So basically everything you have done lol. Screen still goes black. Made it into the city screen with it tho lol.

I went to a website and it said to press alt-enter but i did that and the screen was still back but try it it might work with a different computer
